SARAH'S LEGACY GARDEN

A Living Tribute to a Life Rooted in Hope, Harmony, and the Earth

In the heart of Kehilat Sulam Yaakov, our Jewish Reform congregation in Zichron Yaakov, Israel we are planting something extraordinary: a garden that grows not only from the soil, but from love, memory, and a shared vision for a better world.

Sarah Milgrim z"l was a radiant soul who believed deeply in the interconnected power of people and the planet. Her commitment to sustainability, climate justice, and peacebuilding was not just academic, it was lived, embodied, and generously shared. Our founder and CEO, Mayan Chin Jacobi, first connected with Sarah through their shared dedication to environmental work, especially during a transformative mission to Morocco, where they witnessed firsthand how ecological challenges most deeply impact vulnerable communities. In that journey, Sarah’s profound empathy, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering drive to create meaningful change shone brightly.

Now, we invite you to help us bring that passion to life through Sarah’s Legacy Garden, a sacred, sustainable space where her love for the earth and all its creatures can continue to inspire others.

WHY A GARDEN?

Sarah believed in nurturing, not just people, but ideas, ecosystems, and the possibility of a peaceful, sustainable future.

This garden will reflect that vision:

🌱 A place to learn: Visitors will be able to walk among native plants and read about Sarah’s life, her environmental work in Central America, India, and Israel, and her commitment to peacebuilding and interfaith dialogue.

🌺 A place to reflect: Benches and shaded corners will offer space for prayer, meditation, and community connection.

🐦 A place to honor all life: Sarah’s deep love for animals will be reflected in the garden’s design: butterfly-attracting flowers and bird-friendly spaces. Her compassion extended to every creature, and this garden will be a sanctuary for both people and wildlife.

🌍 A place to act: The garden will model sustainable practices, from water conservation to biodiversity, educating our community and future generations on what it means to live in harmony with creation.
